How Bradley Cooper Learned French
I always love listening to people who speak French well explain how they learned!
In this video Bradley Cooper says that he does these 2 things to keep his French skills up:
He focuses on communication
He’s not afraid to make mistakes
Let’s break down what that means!
Communication - this is being able to generally understand the person you’re speaking French to while also being understood yourself.
It’s not about speaking perfectly!
It’s about practicality and making the language work for you.
Making mistakes - I often tell my private French coaching clients: “to be able to say something correctly, you often have to have said it incorrectly first”
And this also goes back to focusing on communication as opposed to getting everything perfect all the time.
As long as you can somewhat function in French (generally understating the other person and they generally understand you), you can always get better from there if you keep practicing consistently!
Language learning really is just practice!
