Language is About Connecting with Others

Have you ever thought about how language is really a tool for connecting with others??

This is something I’ve been helping my private French students with a lot lately.
Learning french is not about a class / app / textbook / flash cards etc.
It’s really about connecting with other people - that’s the whole purpose of language !!

If you don’t practice using the language to communicate with other people, you’re never going to be very good at it.

French conversation is like driving a car. Unless you actually practice driving a fair amount, you won’t be very good at it.

So if you all you do is study French textbooks and use apps, it’s no wonder why you can’t converse very well in French!

Here are some ways you can connect with other French speakers and practice using the language for FREE (we are not affiliated with any of these apps / organizations):

  • Alliance française - they’re present in many major cities around the world and they have free events where you can meet other french speakers.

  • Tandem / HelloTalk - these are language exchange apps (check out this video to see how I’ve used them to find language partners)

  • Meetup.com - I used to go to a French meet up every week I found on this site and it’s what really helped me get good at speaking French.

And if you don’t know how to get started speaking French, check out our FREE French e-Course !!

If you have any questions, please send me a DM on Instagram ! I’d love to help you!
