The Secret To Speaking French Well 😎💬

Bonjour !

French learners sometimes think there’s some secret to speaking a language well, but the truth is, there really isn’t!

If you want to get better at speaking French, you have to actually practice holding conversations - everything else should supplement practicing conversing in French.

Let me explain.

Learning a language is a lot like driving a car. You can read books about driving or watch videos about it, but unless you actually spend a significant amount of time driving a car, you’re not going to be very good at it.

Often we want to feel like we’re doing something to learn French, so we use apps, make flash cards, watch videos on YouTube, etc.

But is it actually helping you make progress in the language??

And since most French learners don’t practice conversing in the language, they don’t even realize they aren’t really getting better.

French learners don’t practice French conversation because it’s scary, but it’s scary because they don’t practice. It’s a vicious cycle.

So instead of learning a bunch of random words and phrases, learn things that are relevant to your life and practice using them in conversation (You can find friends to practice with for free on apps like Tandem)

And if that sounds daunting, you should try our new and improved FREE French e-Course where I walk you through how to get started actually holding conversations in French.

Next week I’ll send out another newsletter detailing what I share with my private French students to get them speaking and using the language as quickly and as easily as possible, so keep an eye out for that!

If you have any questions, please send me a DM on Instagram ! I’d love to help you

À bientôt !
